What is the current Minimum Wage rate in the State of Maine?

Under Title 26 section 664 of the Maine Revised Statues, the minimum wage in the State of Maine is $6.25 per hour as of January 1, 2003. Please make note of this revised minimum wage rate and pay your employees accordingly.

If the Federal minimum wage increases the State of Maine minimum wage will also increase (but by no more than $1.00 more than the amount specified the Title 26, which could be amended at some later date).

An employer can elect to treat tips as part of wages, but the tips treated as wages can be no more than 50% of the minimum wage rate (i.e. no more than $3.125).

There may be other rules or regulations that apply to you with respect to payroll issues. Please contact us with any questions.
