Paul A. Coston, Jr., CPA/PFS, MST, CLU, CHFC, CFP
Paul, President and co-founder, established the firm with M.J. McIsaac in 1987 following five years of prior public accounting experience. In addition to his management role, Paul is the firm's authority on estate planning and certain income tax technical matters. Paul is also licensed as an investment adviser representative. Paul earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Maine at Machias in 1978 and a Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley College in 1989.
Paul is a member of the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Jonathan Boucher, EA
Jonathan, Vice-President and shareholder, joined the firm in 1991. For three years he managed the firm's payroll service. Since then he has performed a variety of duties including tax return preparation, general and payroll accounting, and financial statement preparation. He specializes in QuickBooks consulting.
Jonathan earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Maine in 1993. Jonathan was granted the Enrolled Agent designation by the Internal Revenue Service in 2006 after passing a rigorous examination.
Ron Wrobel, CPA, M. Acc., IAR
Ron, Vice-President and managing shareholder, joined the firm in the summer of 2008 and has been a CPA since 1988. Prior to joining the firm, Ron was Chief Financial Officer of The First National Bank of Bar Harbor and before that worked at KPMG Peat Marwick in Portland, Maine for six years on the audit staff and as an audit manager. Ron has a Masters in Accountancy degree from Bowling Green State University and a Bachelors degree from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
In addition to providing personal and business tax preparation and planning services, Ron has significant experience working with borrowers at the Bank, including credit analysis and troubled loan situations requiring cash flow, budgeting and debt structuring preparation as well as internal control assessment and implementation. Ron has been active assisting clients with Offers In Compromise with the IRS.
Ron lives in Bar Harbor with his wife Rena and has two grown sons. Ron is an active member of the Bar Harbor Rotary Club as a past President and current Treasurer. Ron is also an active member of the MDI YMCA serving on the Board of Trustees.
Ron is also licensed as an investment adviser representative.
Melinda Workman, CPA, MBA
Melinda, Treasurer and shareholder, joined the firm in October of 2003. She is a native of Deer Isle and has tremendous appreciation for the coastal communities of Maine. Her experience includes 15 years in public accounting and 7 years working in financial management for private industry. Melinda earned her Bachelors degree and her Masters of Business degree from the University of Maine, Orono. She received her MBA in 1992 and became a CPA in 1996.
Melinda enjoys working with a wide variety of clients including corporations, partnerships, individuals, estates, non-profits and trusts. Assisiting new businesses and non-profits with start up planning and strategic development is an integral part of client services that Melinda provides.
Melinda is a member of the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Patricia Pottle, CPA
Tricia, Secretary and shareholder, joined the firm in January of 2007. She is a graduate of Husson College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She became a CPA in 1994. Her family is from and still lives in Brownville Junction, Maine, but she now resides in Surry with her husband Kevin. Her prior experience includes 15 years in public accounting and 8 years working in financial management for private industry.
Tricia is a member of the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is also licensed as an investment adviser representative.
M.J. McIsaac, CPA/PFS
M.J. McIsaac established the firm with Paul Coston in June of 1987. Prior to that M.J. worked several years at Bar Harbor Banking & Trust Company in the loan department and six years as business manager/carpenter of a local building contracting firm. During all of these years M.J. was moonlighting doing payrolls and income tax returns.
M.J. has clients from a wide variety of coastal Maine activities. They include individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, estates and trusts, and limited liability companies. He truly enjoys all aspects of financial planning. M.J. is also licensed as an investment adviser representative.
M.J. is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a Trustee of the MDI YMCA, past Treasurer and Director of the MDI YMCA Board of Directors, and is an active board member of the Jesup Memorial Library. He attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and graduated from the University of Maine in Orono in 1975 with a degree in Political Science.
On December 31, 2014, M.J. retired from firm ownership but continues on as an employee and a valuable member of our team.
Stacey Durrell, a native of Brunswick Maine, came back to the MDI region to be near her family. She joined the Coston and McIsaac Firm in January of 2017. She comes to us with over 20 years’ experience in Bookkeeping and tax preparation. Stacey has obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine Augusta and is continuing her education to earn her Masters.
Stacey is a Certified Professional Bookkeeper through NACPB, and a Quickbooks Pro Advisor. She has extensive experience working with small businesses bookkeeping, payroll, and sales tax reporting.
Since moving back to MDI, she is surrounded by her nieces, brothers and sister and her father. This is the most important thing in her life and has realized she has come “home”.
Bruce Stevens joined Coston & McIsaac, CPAs in November 2014 as a seasonal tax preparer. Bruce gained tax preparation experience working for a national tax preparation company for 19 years. Bruce moved to Bar Harbor in 1978, and during his time there managed a luxury waterfront hotel property for 15 years, owned and operated his own restaurant for 8 years and currently works the summer season as retail operations manager for a local brewery. With 3 grown sons and 2 grandchildren in the area, Bruce has strong ties to the local community. He is a graduate of Syracuse University, M.S. 1976 and a B.S. 1974.
Trish Howard joined the firm in 1996 following thirteen years in the Bar Harbor Banking & Trust Company loan department. Trish is an integral part of our payroll services and provides administrative support to the entire office.
Trish has a strong commitment to customer service and will greet you at the door or over the telephone with a smile and willingness to serve.
